Obituary for Maggie Julia Burney-Isaac

Maggie Julia Isaac went home to be with The Lord on Monday, October 22, 2018 at Highland Lake Center, Lakeland Florida after a long illness.
Maggie, the daughter of the late Hadley Sr. and Sarah Burney, was born December 11, 1934 in Fort McCoy, Florida. She received her early education at Fort McCoy School and graduated from Fessenden High School, class of 1954. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Pleasant View Baptist church under the Pastoralship of Reverend A. D. Brown.
After graduating from high school, Maggie moved to Hartford Connecticut, where she was employed by Sage Allen Department Store for many years. Later she became a Geriatric Aide for the State of Conn. She enjoyed working with the elderly. Maggie was very active in the Hartford school system and served on the PTA of Waverly Elementary School. Maggie assisted in the Boy Scouts of America and was an avid Bowler.
She enjoyed traveling and visiting historical sites. She had a passion for our youth to obtain an education, she encouraged and gave financial assistance to those attending college. Maggie made sure that our family reunion committee established a scholarship fund.
Maggie was a faithful and dedicated member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Hartford, CT and served in many ministries, especially on the Usher Board and Sundayschool.
She was married to the late Willie Jones and to this union they were the proud parent to four children. Years later Maggie and Deacon Gus Isaac were united in Holy Matrimony where a blended family emerged.
In 1985 Maggie and Gus relocated to Lakeland and later joined St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church where they continued to serve in the church as well as the community. After the passing of Deacon Isaac, Maggie remained faithful to her calling as she served on the Mission Ministry as Treasurer and assisted in the Culinary Ministry.
Maggie was employed by VISTE, where she lovingly transported the elderly to different appointments. Even on her days off, if they needed her, she would always find the time to accommodate them. She retired from VISTE in 2014.
Maggie loved her family and she was the reason many of us moved to Conn after Graduating from High School. We would live with her husband Willie, until we found employment and was able to sustain ourselves.
Maggie was eager and proud to serve on the Fessenden High School Alumni Association. She served as secretary and did whatever she could to make the reunion successful.
