Obituary for Reverend Dr. Arthur J. Chandler

Reverend Doctor Arthur James Chandler, born second oldest of Mr. Sam Chandler (Deceased) and Idella Sparrow Chandler (Deceased) on January 30, 1945 in Mt. Brooks, Levy County, Florida. In the wake, of his passing from this earthly tabernacle, of dwelling to eternal rest he leaves his loving and faithful wife of 54 years, Reverend Maxine T. Chandler; daughter: Diona Tyler; son: Bryan Chandler; great-grandson: Juel Sweeney to which he and his wife have lovingly raised for the past 9 years. Dr. Chandler also leaves behind his 4 grandchildren: Yalaniya (John) Turner; Daniel Sweeney and his 3 children, Maxine Sweeney and her 4 children, Samuel (Kayla) Sweeney and their 4 children.Remembering his life as siblings are, Bishop Alfred Chandler and wife. His sisters: Rosa (Deacon Warren) Lewis, Lottie Williams; brother: Deacon Willie (Margnet) Chandler, Pastor Leroy (Emma)Chandler.The lifetime accomplishments of Doctor Chandler can not be contained within these pages. His drive for excellence began with his graduation in1963 from highschool to an AA-Degree in Pre Medicine/Biology, AS-Degree in Corrections Technology, BA-Degree in Criminal Justice, MS-Degree in Criminal Justice and we quote " With the encouragement of my wife", and he achieved his Doctoral Degree in PAstoral Counseling.For 20 faithful years(1988-2008), Dr. Chandler, with the dedicated love and support of his wife, Reverend Maxine Chandler, pastored Greater Piney Grove Baptist Church of Wildwood, Sumter County, Florida. His faithfulness also extended to the Bethel Baptist Association as Secretary of Board of Directors, 1st vice Moderator, Moderator. By the Grace of God, he and Reverend Maxine Chandler organized over 10 plus of Christian Missionary trips to the U.S.  Virgin Islands. One Church One Child Adoption Advocate. Doctor Chandler also authored and published 5 books.From 1979-1983, Doctor Chandler served in the United States Army and was educated in West Germany. He was honorably discharged with several accomplishments.
